Student Chapters
Chicago PSR student members were invited to attend the 12th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, which took place in Chicago, April 23-25, 2012.
The group heard live speeches and panel discussions from such notable peace prize winners as former US President Jimmy Carter, former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, representatives from the IPCC, the UN, the Red Cross and national PSR co-founder and IPPNW board member Dr. Ira Helfand.
This photo shows Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Dr. Rajendra Kumar Pachauri flanked by Chicago PSR medical student members Jonathan Li and Alice Lee, first-year medical students at Rosalind Franklin University Medical School.
Chicago PSR knows that while medical students have busy schedules, student activism can help shape an individual student’s career and help change the world. We welcome interested medical students, undergraduate and graduate students who care about our mission and who would like to participate in Chicago PSR’s activities.
Chicago PSR membership is open to students at no charge.
Chicago now has 2 active student chapters, one at the University of Illinois at Chicago’s College of Medicine (UIC) and one at Northwestern’s Feinberg School of Medicine (NU). Each student chapter has an active board and plans several events each year. For more information on each chapter’s activities, feel free to contact these student leaders:
Chris Deyholos and Gabriel Gao, Feinberg Student PSR co-Presidents.
Jonathan Li and Trent Meltzer, Rosalind Franklin University, co-Presidents.
UIC student chapter contacts will be posted soon.
Student membership in Chicago PSR is free and open to all interested students. Chicago PSR is happy to help students start PSR chapters at additional schools.
For more information on student PSR, you may contact Chicago PSR or spsr.national@psr.org.
